Well I went, I saw, I left. Another incredible NAB has now passed. I got a chance to check out all the things on my checklist and a million others that weren’t. First, I was able to pick up some closed captioning software from Giovanni at the CPC booth. Nice guy and impressive software. Second, I was able to meet with our sales rep from Telestream and get a demo of Vantage and how it can assist in our transcoding needs. I also got a chance to put a face with a name for several of the people we know at Civolution. I also received a great tour of the Canon booth from our friend Mark Karwisch. I also got a chance to see some familiar faces that I’ve seen across the internet like Phillip Bloom, Vincent LaForet, Olivia Speranza from OliviaTech, Emm over at Cheesycam, and Chris Fawcett from SteadiSeg was there too.
I got a chance to play with quite a few of the new products that we’re released at the show. Freefly’s MoVI, BlackMagic Design’s new Cinema cameras, Canon’s entire lineup of cinema cameras, Edelkrone sliders, RED’s camera lineup, and DJI’s new RTF Phantom to name a few. I waited around until 5pm both days I was there to try and win a camera at the Adorama booth—no such luck.
Even though the show literally drains the energy from you, it also re-energized my love for making movies. It was definitely a worthwhile trip.
